National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG)

Award Details
This Department of Defense (DOD) fellowship works to increase the number of U.S. citizens receiving doctoral degrees in science and engineering disciplines that are relevant to the DoD. The fellowship lasts three years and covers full tuition, health insurance costs up to $1,400/year, and a stipend of $3400/month (as of 2023).
Eligibility
- Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Dual Citizen, or U.S. National
- Have completed your undergraduate studies prior to the commencement of the fellowship in September 2024
- Be applying to, accepted to, or currently enrolled at an accredited graduate-level institution within the United States
- Have at *least* THREE remaining years in your graduate degree program as of September 2024
- Be pursuing research in alignment with one or more specific topics identified in the Department of Defense’s Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs)
Application Timeline
The application is open August to October, annually. DoD selection panels select NDSEG fellows in March/April, and notifications to Awardees are typically made in early April.
