Award Details
The Mitchell Scholarship Program, named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell’s pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to community and public service.
Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars are chosen annually for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applications are judged on academic excellence, a record of outstanding leadership, and a sustained commitment to community and public service.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a US citizen
- Be between 18 and 30 years old
Application Timeline
The Mitchell Scholarship application requires a university interview and endorsement letter for current undergraduate students. Alumni applicants do not need a Mines institutional endoresement. Please contact Ashley Weibel to discuss your interest in applying.
